This module introduces essential principles for supporting individuals effectively and ethically. It covers topics such as placing the customer at the centre of all activities, responsibilities of support workers, working professionally and ethically, and culturally appropriate practices. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Airway Support

Introduction to practices for supporting individuals who need assistance in complex Airway Support including: Obstructive Sleep Apnoea, Tracheostomies, Ventilation, Oxygen Therapy, and Respiratory Distress. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

NDIS Essentials

Provides a comprehensive overview of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and its operation, the purpose and scope of the NDIS, the role of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, and reporting obligations. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Introduction to the employee’s role in providing individual support and care. Includes topics relevant to both Disability Services and Aged Care. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Provides an overview of a range of illnesses and special needs which may be encountered by employees in their work. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Workplace Communication and Reporting

Overview of concepts and processes for effective workplace communication, including Communication & Documentation, appropriate usage of Information Technology, Report Writing, Meetings and Communication Skills. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Supporting Children and Young People

Provides essential information on supporting and protecting the interests of children and young people. Key topics include definitions, the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, child protection principles, mandatory reporting, youth sexuality, and trauma-informed practice. The module emphasises understanding legal definitions, upholding children’s rights, ensuring safety through mandatory reporting, and adopting trauma-informed approaches. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Aged Care Essentials

Provides an overview of key aspects of the Aged Care landscape in Australia. It covers the Aged Care Charter of Rights, Aged Care Code of Conduct, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission, National Aged Care Standards, Consumer Directed Care, Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS), and the Australian National Aged Care Classification (AN-ACC) model. The module emphasises understanding rights and responsibilities, delivering safe and quality services, managing incidents, and supporting older Australians effectively. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Introduction to Medication

This module introduces key concepts and practices relating to the management of medication. These include: Overview of Medication, Restricted Medications, Safe storage, Documentation, and Medication Errors. Employees who are required to ASSIST with medication should also take the Assist with Medication module. PLEASE NOTE: Employees must score 100% to pass this module.

Standards, Quality and Safeguarding

This module aims to familiarise employees with the core philosophies and standards that underpin their work. Key topics include privacy and confidentiality, quality management systems, human rights, freedom from abuse and neglect, duty of care, handling disclosures of concern, guardianship, and community visitor programs.
