Standards, Quality and Safeguarding

This module aims to familiarise employees with the core philosophies and standards that underpin their work. Key topics include privacy and confidentiality, quality management systems, human rights, freedom from abuse and neglect, duty of care, handling disclosures of concern, guardianship, and community visitor programs. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

NDIS Essentials

NDIS Essentials

Provides a comprehensive overview of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and its operation, the purpose and scope of the NDIS, the role of the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission, the NDIS Code of Conduct, NDIS Practice Standards and Quality Indicators, and reporting obligations. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices

Infection Prevention and Control

Overview of key ideas and practices relating to infection control in the workplace. Includes standard precautions required in all situations as well as additional precautions required to prevent the spread of certain infections such as respiratory illnesses. Also includes coverage of waste management and sharps handling. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Personal Protective Equipment

Personal Protective Equipment

Overview of key practices relating to the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for infection control, including gloves, masks and gowns. Detailed outline of how to correctly Donn (put on) and Doff (remove) PPE. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Assist with Medication

Assist with Medication

This module follows and builds on the Introduction to Medication module covering key concepts and practices relating to the administration of medication when supporting a client. These include: Administering Medication, The Rights of Medication, Crushing Medication, Right to Refuse. PLEASE NOTE: Employees must score 100% to pass this module.

Cultural Awareness

Cultural Awareness

This module explores the rich cultural diversity which exists in Australia today. Topics include: What is Culture?, Cultural & Linguistic Diversity, LGBTIQ+ Communities, First Nations Australians and Refugees. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices

Provides an overview of positive approaches to behaviour support and strategies for addressing challenging behaviours.

Key topics include:

  • Managing escalating behaviours

The module emphasises understanding the whole person, their environment, and their needs, and using positive approaches to support individuals in achieving their goals. It also outlines the importance of following legal guidelines and the NDIS rules for restrictive practices. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Workplace Behaviours and Expectations

Overview of key concepts and practices relating to the workplace and behaviours expected of all employees. These include: Bullying, Harassment & Discrimination, Grievances & Whistleblowing, Motor Vehicles & Company Property, Supervision & Professional development and Dress Code. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Introduction to Medication

This module introduces key concepts and practices relating to the management of medication. These include: Overview of Medication, Restricted Medications, Safe storage, Documentation, and Medication Errors. Employees who are required to ASSIST with medication should also take the Assist with Medication module. PLEASE NOTE: Employees must score 100% to pass this module.

Principles & Practice

This module introduces essential principles for supporting individuals effectively and ethically. It covers topics such as placing the customer at the centre of all activities, responsibilities of support workers, working professionally and ethically, and culturally appropriate practices. Requires a minimum score of 85% to pass.

Emergency Response Procedures

An overview of emergency response procedures including what to do in an emergency, fire safety, bushfire, flood and severe weather. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Personal Support and Care: A

Introduction to the employee’s role in providing individual support and care. Includes topics relevant to both Disability Services and Aged Care. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.

Personal Support and Care: B

Provides an overview of a range of illnesses and special needs which may be encountered by employees in their work. Requires a minimum score of 90% to pass.
